Why Jockey Street?
In the early 1900s, Jockey Street (later known as Bridge Street) ran west from Goose Creek and served as the main artery into downtown Manchester. A bustling hub of activity, it was where people bought, sold, and swapped merchandise. 
The street was especially known for livestock trading—particularly horses and mules.

This lively tradition gave the area its name: Jockey Street.
