1 Clay County is taking the lead in boosting outdoor tourism by installing a new kayak ramp on Goose Creek, a waterway local officials say is perfectly suited for paddling adventures. The project is part of a broader effort to enhance the plaza area, with riverbank cleanup underway and crews finishing a new retaining wall for the Kayak/Welcome Center parking lot.
Located just off the four-lane, the new launch will provide easy access for visitors eager to explore the scenic Goose Creek River, which flows through the heart of Manchester. Officials say the ramp will open up new opportunities for recreation and tourism in the county.
“Kayaking is becoming one of our biggest tourism draws,” said Clay County Executive Director Mike White. “Goose Creek is perfect for it — calm, beautiful, and right in the center of town. This new launch will make it easier than ever for visitors to get on the water and experience Clay County’s natural beauty firsthand.”
Each step of the project brings the community closer to officially opening the kayak launch and welcoming travelers to the new Welcome Center.
